Writers on the Rock Groups are seeing a tremendous gathering of writers who are discovering the joy—and power—of writing in community. Our writers are a diverse group, from beginners and hobbyists to professionals. Our meetings have been likened to being a “church for writers.” They are casual, yet still focused on skill building with a major dose of inspiration. As Christian writers, our goal is to align our hearts before we sharpen our tools.
Writers on the Rock: Lakewood, our flagship group, generally meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Green Mountain Recreation Center, 13198 West Green Mountain Drive, Lakewood, Colorado 80227. For current meeting information, please request to join the Writers on the Rock Facebook group or email Amy Young.
Writers on the Rock: Highlands Ranch Creatives meets in the fireplace lounge of Living Way Fellowship Church in Highlands Ranch. The church is at the northeast corner of South Broadway and East Wildcat Reserve Parkway. Current meeting information can be found on the Writers on the Rock Facebook page or by contacting Mike Klassen.
Writers on the Rock: Northglenn meets on the 1st Monday of the month from 6:30 – 8:30 pm at Crossroads Church in Northglenn (Huron and 104th Ave). Our current format includes: getting to know one another and one another’s projects to encourage each other, sharing brief tips or discussing challenges for group help, a short devotional, a presentation and workshops. In this age of social media our goal is to develop face-to-face friendships and community among writers in the north end of Denver, and to meet one another’s needs and share resources in an organic and fun way. We are here to spur one another to complete divinely ordained projects in partnership with the One who created us. Call Marla Lindstrom Benroth at 720-301-8355 or email her.
Power of the Pen: East Denver Creatives meets every third Saturday of the month at the beautiful Dahlia Campus for Health & Well-Being, 3401 Eudora St., Denver 80205. At the monthly meetings, featured speakers unpack timely writing topics and share writing news. Upcoming is a mix of teaching and critiquing through evaluation of writing of group attendees. Current meeting information can be found on the Writers on the Rock Facebook page or by emailing Susan Kerr.
Writers on the Rock: DTC Critique and Focused Group is dedicated to helping fellow writers hone their craft and aid each other in sharpening skills. The Critique Group meets at Panera Bread from 2 – 4 pm every second Sunday of the month. This is a time for encouragement and writers of every level are encouraged to attend. Immediately following this will be the Focused Writing time from 4 – 6 pm. This structured time gives quiet 20 – 30 minute increments, with brief breaks to pray and connect. You may come for one or both sessions. Contact Jendayi for more information.
Writers on the Rock: Arvada group is meant to develop relationships with other writers and to help provide tools to help every writer improve. The group meets on the fourth Thursday of the month at 8413 Quaker Circle in Arvada from 6:30 – 8:30 pm. Contact Sue Roberts for more info.
